Host FAQs

What is involved in hosting the Walkers?
After completing the day’s journey, we will meet you either at the end of the day’s route or at your home. Depending on the day and your preference, we can meet anytime from 4pm to 7pm. The evenings are flexible, and we would love to spend time talking together over dinner. We’ll devote time to Walk updates and planning in the evening and call it a night where you designate. We’ll have air mattresses & sleeping bags, so no need for beds (though they’re always appreciated!) Then in the morning, we can be up and out for whatever time is convenient for you.
Where does the Walk need hosts?
We need hosts in the following cities:
Atascadero, Big Sur, Boulder Creek, Burlingame, Cambria, Carlsbad, Carmel, Carpinteria, Castroville, Coopertino, Dana Point, Davis, Del Mar, Dixon, El Segundo, Encinitas, Fairfield, Goleta, Green Valley, Guadalupe, Huntington Beach, Klau, La Jolla, Laguna Beach, Larkspur, Long Beach, Los Gatos, Malibu, Marina, Mill Valey, Monterey, Morro Bay, Napa, Newport Beach, Oceano, Oceanside, Pacifica, Palo Alto, Paso Robles, Petaluma, Pismo Beach, Point Mugu, Port Hueneme, Ragged Point, Redondo Beach, Rio Del Mar, Sacramento, San Carlos, San Diego, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, San Rafael, San Simeon, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Santa Monica, Sea Cliff, Seal Beach, Sonoma, Vacaville, Ventura, Watsonville
How many people would you host?
We will have two to three walkers at any given time, and you may choose to host one, two or three of those walkers in your home. When you complete the Host Survey, please indicate the number of people you can accommodate.
What meals are involved?
We would love to spend dinner together in the evening. Breakfast and a packed lunch are bonuses and are valuable assistance in the walk!
How many nights are involved?
Most host arrangements would be for a single night, but for some areas (especially in the less populated stretch of Central Coast), it would be very helpful to stay multiple nights with a single host. In the Host Survey, please indicate whether you would be able to host for multiple nights.
